Very dark & gray damp foggy ― boo!

Did not go out ― but wrote incessantly all day ― many receipts for cheques sent ― & more asking for others.

Charles Wynne & his new wife came; evidently a sensible woman. ―

At 5.30. Bob Martineau came ― nice good fellow. At 7. to F.L.’s.

1863-12-01

Evening unpleasant. Spheres out of order. Gibbs a bore. I sulky. Mrs. Holland the best card.

Altogether ― particularly as the Lamp was in my eyes ― I wished I was Tekel. ―
