No sun ― cloudy all day ― & very cold. ― At 5 ― rain. ―

Rose at 6.30 ― & drew well ― by fits ― all day ― at 3 of the Tyrants, Ponte Maddalena ― the Bagni di Lucca, & Εὐροπουλος. But I wrote to Drummond Hay ―, &, a letter coming from 40scue, ― one to him also: ― which however I did not send, as I had burst out about the Stratfords too much. ― No one came, & no newspaper came either ― a bore.

Called ― at 5.20 ― on Mrs. S. Barry ― Higgins & Mrs. H. then. H. is a bore. ―

Penned out, finishing Finale Drawings ― till 10.30: having heard G. read.
