Thursday, 4 February 1864

Calm ― gray ― all day: a gleam or two of sun, but in Albania the hills were bright.

Slept but middling, but woke better.

Set to work on Janina ― painted in a new sky ― & all sorts of “effects.”†

Then on Turin ― the trees of which I worried at till 5.15.

Health better today than it has been since the 27th Janry.

Dined μονακῶς, & penned till 10.30. Ἄσσος drawings.

Decbr. 1/64 † Vide Sept. 28/64
