Slept very well ― & feel better. Rose at 5.30. & copied journal notes from 6.30 to 9.30 more or less. ― Breakfast at 10. C.F. ― Speaker & Lady C. Denison. Earl & Countess Mor4ley & Lady C. Parker, Earl & Countess Stanhope ― & various others unbeknown. Came the D. of N. & sate next me ― & shortly began to talk of the Islands & Sir H.S. ―& very pleasantly as well as thoughtfully. ― Break up for church. Talk with pleasant Speaker & Lady C.D. ― Sir C. Russell. Long waiting for carriages for church ― & not enough came, so many went not. Walk in garden, with anonymous people ― & afterwards till 12, μοναχὸς.[1] Wrote till 1.15 ― journals of Sta. Maura.

At 2 ― lunch ― very agreable between Lady Stanhope ― Lady C. Denison. ― Afternoon ― sitting ― dawdling ― walking ― Mrs. Norton ― [dairy] &c. &c. &c. &c. ― & at 6 I was tired out. 7.30 dressed. 8. dinner
