Generally ― pouring rain: wind at times.

Monday Steamer not in yet. Sent letters to Lady Waldegrave Lady E. Tennyson, Bickers & Bush, & F.L.

But I worked very little ― finishing ― as far as might be, the black & white Palaιοκαστρίτζα, & beginning other experiments.

No one came ― of course.

At 6.30. (G. being out, along of trying to mend the kitchen stove window ― broken by the wind,) ―― went to dine at Craven’s. But on the way, it rained & no end of storm came on ― so I was half blind & dead when I got to Casa Politi. Little Willie Craven is better than I fancied he would be. ―

1863-03-17

Evening very tolerable & not unpleasant: but there were violent=frightful thunder storms, & endless hail & rain. Whereon, the Suliot appeared ― being fearful I couldn’t get home without extra cloax & shoes: a faithful serving man. ―

Home by 10.45. or 11.
