Rain all night. ― fine ― gray & rainy on the hills ― warm ― scirocco.

Drew but little all day ― the new Photograph trial views. But heaps of people came ― Creykes, Viletta, Vanlam ― Ventura, Grolo, ― Pieri, Campbells, Archer, ― Bolland, ― & innumerable anonymi. ― Wearied out & worried ― so that at 5.30 ― I took down all the pictures already disposed of ―. As consolation, came 3 letters, Emily Tennyson, ― dear old Ellis Ashton, (wishing for one of the 10 guinea drawings ―) & Mr. Hill of Athens.

At 6. went with G. to the Palace ― taking the 2. drawings for the Lord High. Then to Boyds.

“Passed” the Evening ― ἔτζι κ’ ἔτζι ― they are all kindly people ― but Mrs. Hudsony would kill me by her talking in a fortnight.
