Very lovely mold weather ― opal ― mackerel ― dolphin hues, all day.

{Ordered 2 Doz. Marsala

Drew all day ― 9 to 5.30 ― colouring sketches of Lefchimo &c. ― penned out this winter ― fidgetty slow work ―but necessary. Have left off fires for 2 days ― only at morn & evening.

5.30 ―walked by Manducchio corner ― & so on ― till 6.30.

At 7. Straham came & dined with me ― & a most pleasant evening we had. His delight at the 60 drawings ― (of which he only saw ― thanks to his good taste & good sense ― only 33,) was most agreable.

Bed after midnight.
