Tuesday, 20 January 1863

Fine & warm all day.

A frightful evening of wind & rain & thunder was last night! Nor could I sleep till late.

All the day I worked at Numbers 19 & 20 & 21. of the smaller 30 Tyrants ― finishing the 2 former. At 4.30. walked partly to One Gun battery ― bored by meeting many people.

Walked back with the De Veres & Buchanan.

Greek 6 to 7.

The Steamer ― (Mondays) came in today at 1. P.M. brought no letters for me ― only papers.
