Cloudy ― & after 12 ― rain ― showers ― & squash.

Wrote long letters to Mrs. Empson, ― S.W. Clowes, ― Mrs. Prescott ― (& after the Ancona boat came in at 1 ― bringing a charming letter from Julia Goldsmid,) wrote also a very long letter to her, & to Lady G. ―

Did not go out all day.

At 6, it rained, & so, G. having come in, I ordered a carridge.

The De Vere’s dinner ― οὕτω[1] ―

[Jones ― the boy Jones who jumped through the window at Valence June 3. 1862!

a ξένος.[2]]

Evening very merry & pleasant.

Showed various drawings ― & sang somewhat.

Home by 11.15.

I was glad to see Jones again!
