Friday, 5 December 1862

Fine ― i.e. not wet: & beamy.

Breakfast at 8. ―

Worked from 9. to 5. at these 30 Tyrants: broken only by a visit from Straham, Miss Reeve, Miss Bolland & pretty Mrs. Creyke.  A Little beauty she is.

George is horridly unwell with a cold.

Before 6.30 ― went to the Palace ― & found there was no dinner till 7.30 ― so sate with poor Curzon ― Straham & Baring. Which the latter played ― more with science than taste.

1862-12-05

Dinner vastly agreable: & agreable people afterwards.

Came away at 11.
