Wednesday, 3 December 1862

Torrents of rain all day.

I fully intended to go to V.’s funeral, but it was impossible.

Drew ― off & on ― pretty hard ― all day: at some more of the “30 drawings[.]”

Bolland & Miss Bolland came at 4.45. & Baring A.D.C. Poor Vernon died quite mad ― the details of his suicide too shocking to put down.

Dined at 5.30[.]

At 6.30. Stephanizzi.

Wrote till 9. ― Wrote to C. Fortescue. ―

Not so ill as yesterday.
