Sunday, 9 November 1862

Dark, cold, violent wind, & pouring rain. Horror & filth & disgust.

The narrow gloom of this house & region is oppressing ― notwithstanding the kindness of the 2 Hunts.

Wrote & arranged papers while they went to church. Lunch: & some walking in the Conservatory with B.H.H. But it poured with rain all the afternoon ― so we all 3 slept generally ― & talked casually.

Dinner & Evening. ― Arranged to go at 7.30. tomorrow ― as B.H. was going ˇ[is to] go to town.
