At Paris by 7 ― after a night of no great trouble, tho’ I got but little sleep. ―― Luggage not opened.

I, Majr. W.S., & Capt. B. drove to Hotel Louvre, & leaving Bolton there, we 2 went to Dieppe Station, just in time to catch the 8 o’clock train. So off, & arrived at Dieppe just at 12 ― & exactly in time to get our luggage on board as the bell rang, & we were off ― at 12.15.

Pleasant voyage ― lovely afternoon. Dinner on Deck, , Jones & Thompson, Majr. W.S. & I. ―

At Newhaven by 5.20. Luggage hardly opened. J. & T. went in by train to town ― I & Majr. W.S. by the 7.40 train to Lewes ― he thence to Brighton: & so concludes the Malta party; as pleasant a one as has been my lot to join.

Drove to “Bear” Inn ― & got washed ―― & then to Hunts ― Mrs. H.H., & a niece only.

Received with the usual unchangeable kindness.
