Very lovely & bright, & breezy all day long. [gr.]

Letters from F.L. ― & Macbean, who is in England. 2nd post ― from Ellen ―: W. Newsom is returned from poor Harriet’s funeral: it seems certain to me that I don’t fully realize facts: less than I did. A note also from Lady G. Grey. ― At 4½ I bathed, but the shingly beach bores me, & I do not think I am so well after bathing. So I shan’t bathe again. Dinner ― salmon & mutton. Drank nothing but water. ―

At 7½ took a small walk & posted letters to
J. Harford
F.L.
& Macbean

Certes ― better as I am altogether, ― summer is a melancholy to me. ―
Corfu 2nd day.

Petra 1st day.
