Rose, ill enough. A weight, & constant cough I cannot shake off. ― Drew ―: & at 12 came the πλῆθος. ((“Crowd, throng, multitude.”)) I was glad when it went. But its going did not at all bring me peace ― au contraire, irritation & bother prevented all work. X9. ―

At 4 I walked to St. J. Lateran ― compensating a little for the dreadful day’s imprisonment. ― At 6 I came home & dined: & Giorgio sate & talked about our Zagori & Σαλονίκι ((Salonika.)) travels. How valuable is this good fellow! ― Yet I suffer bitterly here somehow, & there seems no end to trouble. Pizzerani’s bill ― 4 70 sc. has come in, & Cagiate’s ― 70 ― how to be paid I don’t quite know.
