Sunday, 14 February 1858

Cold & wet at times all day. Wrote & read continually. Asked L. to walk if he went out, but he did not call. Church=wise. Dined with him, but finding this, & being not half well from being indoors all day, passed the evening in silence. Unsocial & uncompanionable man, & full of the Park House Genius. ((Park House was the residence of the Lushington family.))
