Wednesday, 13 January 1858

Rose at 5¼. Worked Greek alone. Papadopoulos’s child being better, but he could not come for “allegria”. ((“Happiness,” Italian.)) Afterwards I worked at painting ― now & then, completing Mrs. Empson’s 2. Bunsen came from 3 to 3½ or 4. At 4½ walked the round ― walking back (as yesterday) into Curzon & Ponsonby.

At 7 to 46th to dine with Lluelyn. Campbell next to me ― which saved me. Evening not unpleasant.

Yesterday was perfectly fine ― & dry also, but cloudier later, ― & now it rains softly.
